We Pick 6: Things to do in Charlotte

PURE Property Management of North Carolina - Sunday, July 31, 2016

It can be hard to find something to do in the Queen City, but only because there are so many options to choose from. No matter who you are or what you like, Charlotte has something for you.

1. Outdoor Activities: Our number one top attraction in Charlotte, if you enjoy the great outdoors, is the U.S. National Whitewater Center (http://usnwc.org/). With hiking and biking trails, ropes courses, kayaking, canoeing and river rafting, you and your family will never be bored at the Whitewater Center! Living in the middle of a concrete jungle can get old. Luckily in the heart of Charlotte is Freedom Park. Freedom Park is a great place to walk or ride bikes on the path around the lake!

2. Sports Lovers: No matter what sport you're into, Charlotte offers something for you! Directly in the city of Charlotte, you can find BB&T Ballpark (http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t494)  and enjoy watching our home team play while getting a great panoramic view of the city! A short drive from there will take you to the Bank of America Stadium (http://www.panthers.com/stadium/). Here you can watch the Carolina Panthers tackle a win! For all those NASCAR lovers out there, downtown Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame (http://www.nascarhall.com/). Enjoy interactive activities while learning about the history of NASCAR. Don't forget the Time Warner Cable Arena where you can watch the Hornets play right here in "Buzz City!" (http://www.timewarnercablearena.com/timewarner/)

3. Hey thrill-seekers! This place is for you! One of Charlotte's greatest attractions is Carowinds! This amusement park has dozens of roller coasters, rides that will have you upside down and sideways, and a water park with a wave pool and countless water slides and rides! A great place to bring your children of all ages. Carowinds has something for everyone! (https://www.carowinds.com/)

4. Music and the Arts: Charlotte is home to many museums and performing arts centers. Our favorites include the Mint Museum, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, and the Time Warner Cable Arena. If you love art and its history, the Mint Museum is the place for you (http://www.mintmuseum.org/)! For those into plays, operas, and more head over to the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center (http://www.blumenthalarts.org/) ! The Time Warner Cable Arena isn't just home to the Charlotte Hornets, it is also a place where musicians from all over the world hold concerts! It is a newly renovated venue and always has something to offer.

5. Just for the Kids: If you have younger children, our top attractions in Charlotte are Discovery Place and ImaginOn. Both places offer hundreds of hands on learning activities that your children can participate in! Whether your child wants to grow up to be a scientist, marine-biologist, doctor, archaeologist, or astronomer, both Discovery Place (http://www.discoveryplace.org/)  and ImaginOn have activities that will help your child learn in these and many more fields. ImaginOn (http://www.imaginon.org/)  also offers a library and a children's theatre!

6. For some retail therapy: You will love shopping in the Charlotte area! SouthPark Mall (http://www.simon.com/mall/southpark) has dozens of great stores, retail and high end! The SouthPark Area also offers delicious dining experiences including the Cheesecake Factory! Nearby is the Charlotte Premium Outlets (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlet/charlotte)! Many great stores to choose from and an indoor food court!
